When I rented this movie and watched it, I was sure my first impression was going to be,"Wow, Kristen Stewart honestly cannot fucking act!" I was incredibly wrong, while being slightly right.

My overall impression of the film was "Fuck yeah!" I think Dakota Fanning rocks the shit out of her part. She plays none other than the great Cherie Curry, the cherry-bomb rocking bitch herself. If you rent or buy this thinking that little Dakota Fanning is at again, you are going to be in for a big suprise. She makes a wonderful transition from sappy child roles to growing-into-woman film gold. For the most part, Dakota re-recorded the live performances for the film, and boy does she nail it straight on the head. I could play them back to back with the original recordings and someone who didnt know it was from the movie would more than likely think it was the originals. I truly applaud her willingness to forgoe her bullshit persona to take on this role. Do I smell an Oscar?

Kristen Stewart is suprisingly not horrible, but she bring a certain spaziness to Joan Jett that I didn't approve of. If she wasn't so damn spazzy all the fucking time, she might have actually been pretty good. Joan deserved to be played by someone who has the real chops and balls to play her. On the other hand, she does resemble Joan quite a bit, but that doesn't mean they should forget about acting just because she looks like the character.

I was even impressed with the modern scream queen herself, Scout Taylor Compton as Lita Ford. She looks alot like Lita, and even has similiar maneurisms. Unfortunately, the material portrays Lita in a pretty horrible light, and I left the movie wondering if she is really that much of a bitch. I have a feeling it was simply because the source material is written by Cherie.

My main beef was that the director chose to make alot of the story way too mushy in comparison to the book. There were choices that at times were just down right lame, and the actors seemed to feel awkward about acting them out.

Still, I highly recommend you watch if you have any rock bones in your body. It is a great rock movie because it teaches even a Runaways fan new things while breaking down the experiences for the new fans. Go get it now!!!!
